Spatial modeling of tumor growth : case of prostate cancer
Prostate cancers are men’s common cancers in the developing world. This type of cancer is developing slowly but there are cases of aggressive prostate cancers which may metastasize . Triple interactions between hosts cells, cancer cells and active immune cells used in a three-dimensional cancer model from L.G. De Pilis and A. Radunskaya are not sufficient to understand the mechanisms of metastasis. After some studies, a fourth cell type has been incorporated ; endothelial cells are essential components of the structure of blood vessels. This model in four dimensions can reproduce the angiogenic switch and thus the transition from avascular to vascular tumour that allows the metastatic stage. This model in four dimensions will be used to develop a spatial modelling.
