On May 5, Safran Nacelles, INSA Rouen Normandie, the University of Rouen Normandie and CNRS officially created the joint laboratory FLAMES (Fire Laboratory for Assembly, Metal and Composite Engineering & Safety).
The aim of this four-year partnership is to anticipate regulatory and technological developments in the field of fire resistance, a critical issue for the design of aircraft nacelles in a context of increasingly stringent requirements.
The FLAMES laboratory is located within the GPM (Materials Physics Group) and the CORIA (Interprofessional Research Complex in Aerothermochemistry), two laboratories under the joint supervision of the CNRS, the University of Rouen Normandie and INSA Rouen Normandie.
This laboratory has advanced testing and analysis resources for carrying out test campaigns on representative samples. This work will make it possible to develop accurate simulation models and optimise physical tests, thereby contributing to the design of ever safer and more efficient nacelles.
